Wellness and Prevention

Free, confidential testing and a same-week path to care or prevention — no judgment, no lecture, no cost.

Testing is fifteen minutes. What happens after is the real program.

Civic Heart provides free rapid HIV testing at our Third Ward office and at community sites where people already are — barbershops, churches, health fairs, apartment complexes. Results in about fifteen minutes, in a private room, from someone trained to sit with whatever the answer is.

A negative result means a conversation about PrEP, condoms, and risk reduction on your terms. A positive result means we do not let go: we make the treatment appointment with you, help with insurance and transportation, and follow up until you are in care and undetectable.

All conversations are confidential.

What to expect

01

Walk in or find us out there

No appointment needed at 410 Pierce St. during business hours. Our outreach team also tests at community events across Houston — check our calendar.

02

Rapid test, private room

A finger-stick sample and about fifteen minutes. You will talk to one person the whole time, and nothing goes in a database that identifies you publicly.

03

Results and a plan

Negative: prevention counseling and PrEP navigation if you want it. Positive: confirmatory testing plus a treatment appointment scheduled before you leave.

04

Linkage and follow-up

We handle insurance enrollment, ADAP paperwork, transportation, and check in until you are established in care.
